The Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano has come to an end with an agreement on a series of principles to help the war-torn country re-build.
The participants, including governments, business and International Organizations, agreed on a series of 7 principles – which included fighting corruption, enforcing democracy and transparent governance.
The meeting has now wrapped up. The Ukrainian delegation, led by the Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal, says it’s important to start immediately and says his government is ready to act fast.
He also welcomed pledges by Germany and the UK to hold further conferences over the next two years.
It’s estimated it will take USD 750bn to rebuild the country. Ukraine is pushing for confiscated Russian assets, worth around USD 500bn, to be used for reconstruction.
