Geneva public transport officials are investigating after there were two similar accidents yesterday only a few hundred meters apart.

Both were in the Chêne-Bougeries area. The first just before 8 yesterday morning close to the Clinique des Grangettes when a tram hit a car turning left with such force the car was pushed into another.

The driver was injured and is in a stable condition according to police.

Then there was another just after midday on the same line nearby. In almost identical circumstances, a tram hit a turning car. The driver was not injured.

In both cases the accidents caused serious disruptions to tram lines 12 and 17 and also bus line 25 as vehicles were redeployed to provide shuttle services while the tram lines were closed.
