The head of the Centre Party says Switzerland should get closer to NATO after Donald Trump’s election win.
In an interview with the NZZ yesterday, Gerhard Pfister says this country should still maintain its neutrality. He stresses he doesn’t want to join the organisation – but he believes there should be closer cooperation.
He suggests the Air Force could take on some European policing tasks.
He says if Trump pushes for an immediate peace in Ukraine – it will be a peace in Russia’s favour.
He says if Switzerland doesn’t get closer to NATO, it would have to be sure it can defend itself – he says he doubts Switzerland could do that at the moment.
