Swiss Federal Railways says all electricity it uses for powering its trains will come from sustainable sources from January.
Most of the power will come from hydroelectric stations – the rest will be renewable energy bought from the market.
Until now, 90% has been renewable – the last 10% is nuclear. But that will be cut next year.
The SBB says the switch is part of its sustainable development strategy.
