Despite the government’s rule that we should be working from home if we possibly can – traffic is now close to the pre-pandemic levels.
Canton Zurich has its own survey which shows practically the same number of people on the roads now compared to the same week in 2019.
Numbers from the Federal Roads Office show a similar picture. The amount of traffic on the A1 passing the Nyon exit was down only 12% from 2019. During the lockdown in April 2020, traffic was down 64%.
But perhaps home working is having a bit of an impact as the weekend traffic levels are much closer to pre-pandemic levels, showing leisure travel is bouncing back fast.
