The Geneva public transport company, the TPG, has won a major global award.
Handed out by the International Union of Public Transport, Geneva came top in the urban transport category. Judges were impressed with the Léman Express and the construction of the first cross border tram line in the canton for eighty years.
The ceremony is being held in Dubai and Geneva fought off strong competition from all over the world, including from the London Underground’s new Northern Line extension.
The Director General of the TPG, Denis Berdoz, says the award is recognition of the work by everyone at the company.
