The Geneva public transport company, the TPG, says it will have a complete electric fleet of buses by 2030.
The Swiss manufacturer HESS has teamed up with Hitachi to build 119 new electric buses.
They will follow a similar technology that’s already being used on the TOSA buses which run to and from the airport. Using so called ‘flash chargers’ at stops, they’ve been operating since 2018 and have travelled nearly 3m km.
The new vehicles will be made in this country – the first ones will be on the roads in 2025.
