Geneva’s public transport system is to buy 38 new trams.
The network is expanding with new lines to Ferney-Voltaire, Plan les-Ouates, St Julien-en-Genevois and Annemasse-Glières.
The TPG launched an international tender for the new vehicles, but in the end stayed within the country and they’ll be built by the canton Thurgau based Stadler company.
The new trams will be reversible, so they can operate throughout network. They’ll also replace those running on line 12 which are now 40 years old.
They’ll be entering service in 2025.
