Tina Turner responsible for tax cut

Tina Turner

Residents of the Zurich commune of Stäfa have the singer Tina Turner to thank for a tax cut.

Turner and her music manager husband, Erwin Bach, paid around CHF 70m for a massive property on the shores of Lake Zurich. It has 10 buildings, covers 24,000 m2, a swimming pool and even its own stream.

The tax from the sale has boosted the commune’s coffers – so they can cut tax for the other residents by 2%.

Turner herself didn’t pay the tax, that was from the seller – a casino entrepreneur, Hans Jecklin.

While the commune can’t say where the extra money has come from, due to strict privacy laws, experts say it’s obvious.

Turner and her husband have lived in Zurich since 1998. They married there in 2013.
