The lynx return remains vulnerable

The lynx has made a successful return but remains vulnerable, according to new research released by WWF Switzerland.

Around 360 lynx now live in the Alps and Jura. The predator helps regulate wild game and stabilise forests.

Road and rail collisions are the leading cause of death, with poaching and a narrow genetic pool adding further risk.

Scientists have identified rare congenital heart defects linked to the limited diversity of the Swiss population.
