It could have been far worse, say emergency services after they had to haul out a 16-year-old boy from the Rhone on Saturday morning.
The teen had jumped in to the river, somersaulting as he fell, from the Jonction train bridge. A height of 27 meters.
A spokesman for the fire department says the jump was filmed by his friends. He says he believes the boy was encouraged to do it for YouTube likes.
He adds the outcome could have been far more serious, but the river is relatively warm and the flow was slow.
The boy’s friends managed to get him to the shore.
He’s been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
