A Geneva teacher has been cleared of misconduct after a teenage girl accused him of groping her. She’s been found guilty of slander.

The girl told the court she made up the allegations in support of a classmate.

In her original statements in 2019, the then 13-year-old, said she’d been touched inappropriately during a gym class. But under questioning in court, she changed her story and said it may not have been the teacher.

The teacher was suspended as soon as the allegation was made – he immediately launched defamation proceedings against the teenager.

The case clears the teacher of any wrong doing. The sentence the girl received has not been made public, as is normal in cases involving minors.
