Teen attacker could have passport revoked

The teenager who stabbed and seriously injured an Orthodox Jew last week risks having his Swiss passport revoked and deported.

The teen is 15, and there are strict rules surrounding judicial punishments for minors.

He could be imprisoned for a year – but no more. Although the courts can place him under supervision until the age of 25.

But as the teen is a dual Swiss/Tunisian national – he was naturalized Swiss at the age of 3 – he can have his passport revoked.

It needs the agreement of the canton, but the Canton Zurich Security Director, Mario Fehr, is demanding his citizenship be cancelled. He told the NZZ, ‘there’s no place in Switzerland for terrorists.’
