Over the weekend, a Swiss cargo aircraft carrying 600 oxygen concentrators left Zurich for Jakarta.

Switzerland has responded to an appeal for help to fight the pandemic by authorities in Indonesia.

The shipment also included more than 12,000 protective coveralls and 45,000 face masks, according to the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. The supplies are valued at nearly CHF 1 million.

The Swiss embassy in Jakarta will now work closely with local authorities to ensure the cargo is distributed “fairly, based on need, in accordance with humanitarian principles.”

Since May this year, Switzerland has made six deliveries of medical supplies overseas worth over CHF 15 million. Equipment to fight the pandemic has been sent to Tunisia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and India.
