Lausanne's city council has given the municipality six months to ban ventral pinning by its police force

The vote comes a year after the scandal over racist WhatsApp groups inside the force, with elected officials demanding faster reforms.

Four resolutions were adopted earlier this week, including a call to create an independent body to handle complaints against the police.

The measures signal growing pressure on Lausanne's authorities to deliver on promised police reforms, with critics saying progress has been too slow.
