Switzerland seeks sovereign defence AI

Switzerland is stepping up efforts to secure its own military-grade artificial intelligence.

Defense firm RUAG has partnered with Lausanne startup Giotto.AI to develop a fully sovereign AI system capable of handling sensitive data without relying on foreign technology.

The tool is designed to run offline, which is a key requirement for defense, and could support everything from data analysis to future battlefield applications.

Military officials say controlling both the technology and the data is essential, especially when dealing with classified information.
