Switzerland has been named the world’s most competitive country in a new global ranking by consulting firm Eight Advisory.
Out of 58 nations assessed on the economy, education, sustainability, and social cohesion, Switzerland comes out on top - leading in both economy and education.
It ranks fourth for sustainability and eighth for social cohesion.
The report praises Switzerland’s “strong education system and economic resilience.”
Nordic countries, Ireland, and the Netherlands also scored highly, with Sweden leading in sustainability and Finland in social cohesion.
Germany, the UK, and France round out the European top twenty.
Switzerland relies too heavily on an American NGO to detect child sexual abuse online, raising questions about the country's ability to protect children on its own.
Summer has arrived, with temperatures climbing past 30 over the long weekend. Basel reached 31 and Sion hit 32.4, but MeteoSwiss, says this does not yet count as an official heatwave.
