Switzerland faces staffing crisis

Switzerland is facing a staffing crisis – and it will cost the economy billions.

A study by the consultancy Oliver Wyman shows there could be a lack of 300,000 skilled workers by 2035.

But the report suggests we should do more to help those from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Business leaders say the lack of talent is their biggest brake on growth.

Many school leavers from poorer backgrounds say they have trouble choosing a career. The report says they lack role models and don’t get enough support from the education sector.

They’re also unable to fund their own training.

The report shows educational inequality is a major economic factor.
