The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) has confirmed that it has been informed of the kidnapping of a Swiss woman in Niger.
According to local media outlet Air Info Agadez, the woman, known as Ms Claudia, is from La Chaux-de-Fonds and emigrated to Niger with her Nigerian husband around 30 years ago. She was kidnapped from her home on Sunday night.
The motivation for the kidnapping remain unknown.
The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs has not commented on a possible ransom demand.
