The Swiss government was forced to intervene after a Swiss national was denied entry into the United States.

There have been growing reports that visitors from other western nations are being searched heavily – including phones and laptops. Recently a French scientist was barred from entering.

She was due to attend a conference.

There’s no information on the Swiss woman being denied entry – either as tourist or business traveller.

But the government has been in contact with the US embassy and has expressed its concern over the treatment of people entering the US.

The woman is now back in Switzerland.
