Swiss ski resorts are being overrun with visitors from other countries as the restrictions here are more relaxed than elsewhere.
Markus Berger from Switzerland Tourism says a survey they carried out confirmed many visitors are coming because the rules are different.
The number of vistors is clear just by looking at the cars. Many are registered in Germany or Austria, according to Klaus Nussbaumer from the Pizol lift company in Glarus. He says the numbers are back to pre-pandemic levels.
It’s not just visitors from neighbouring countries – there are plenty from the Netherlands and Belgium.
In the French speaking regions, the British are also very common. Because France had strict controls on people arriving from the UK until very recently, many booked in Switzerland.
Figures suggest non-Swiss make up 80% of customers in several resorts.
