Swiss rail report a billion franc loss

Despite Covid taking a massive bite out of revenues for Swiss Federal Railways, there are no plans to raise ticket prices.

The total loss for the last two years is close to a billion francs as people stayed at home.

The company says it will be looking at other ways to save money and increase productivity. But there could also be help from the government.

But the transport committee is calling on the Federal Council to consider the losses as exceptional and so release funding to fill the losses.

The committee is also urging the government to continue with the planned investments in the rail network and not to delay them as they will be beneficial in the long term.
