The Federal Office for Cybersecurity is warning of a wave of fraudulent emails posing as cantonal unemployment funds.
The messages claim a payment of around CHF 879.- is being taken from the recipient's card, urging them to call a phone number to block the transaction.
That number is the trap - scammers then talk victims into installing remote-access software, letting them trigger payments through online banking, or hand over card details.
About 40 reports of this so-called "callback scam" have been filed each week since April.
The cyber office reminds Swiss residents that banks, insurers and cantonal authorities never ask for payment details by email.
