Air conditioning is back at the centre of Geneva's political debate as the heatwave continues.
The Swiss People's Party wants to make it much easier to install fixed air conditioning, arguing hospitals, care homes and schools shouldn't face lengthy permit procedures.
It also wants smaller residential units to be exempt from authorisation.
The Greens oppose the plan, saying it ignores the root causes of climate change and would encourage energy-intensive cooling instead of investing in longer-term solutions.
