Geneva is gearing up for a straight left/right electoral battle for a seat on the cantonal government.
After this weekend’s votes, the two leading candidates for the seat are a Green candidate and a member of the Swiss People’s Party.
Other political parties say they’ll stand aside to allow the candidates to face each other.
The centre right Liberal Party is urging its supporters to vote for the Swiss People’s Party – while the Green Liberals, unsurprisingly, call for a Green vote.
Commentators all agree the result will be close, but the right-wing probably have the edge.
If the Swiss People’s Party is successful, it’ll be the first time in many years it’s been represented in the Geneva government.
The vote will be held on October 19th.
