It seems unlikely the Rolling Stones will be able to reschedule their Swiss dates after the Bern concert was cancelled because Mick Jagger tested positive for Covid.
40,000 had bought tickets to see the legendary band in Wankdorf last week – but it didn’t happen.
Despite efforts to find a new date, it seems the demands of football have scuppered any chance.
There are only a few places in the country that can accommodate 40,000 people. The football stadiums used by FC Zurich and Basel are unavailable due to games – as is the original Bern venue.
Geneva is too small and Lausanne was rejected as the city charges a 14% tax on concert tickets.
The Stones first played in Switzerland in 1964 – their first ever gig outside the UK – in Montreux. The concert organiser, Claude Nobs, had to give away tickets to fill the hall.
There are now worries the band will never play in Switzerland again.
