Is the International Space Station set to crash into Switzerland?
Well, maybe a bit of it.
But probably not.
However, the German Aerospace Centre says a massive battery which was dumped by the space station is crashing to earth and it’s unlikely all of it will burn up in the atmosphere.
The debris will pass over Switzerland and southern Germany later today. The battery pack weighs 2.5 tonnes and is four meters long. It was ejected by the space station two years ago and has been falling ever since.
Where it will fall exactly is now only a guess – but NASA says it’s unlikely to cause any damage.
