Solar power production exceeds all records

The solar energy sector is set to break all records with predictions that new photovoltaic installations, or solar panels, will have produced around 50 per cent more power this year than in 2021, according to the Federal Office of Energy.

From January to the end of October this year, 24,000 photovoltaic systems with a total power output of around 540 MW were installed. That’s a 50% increase compared to the same period in 2021.

The government has a pot of 600 million francs to encourage the take up of solar energy systems in 2023, with a promise that sufficient resources for further development of the industry will be available in the coming years.
