Sick days climb in 15 years

We’re all taking more sick days.

Workers now take an average of more than eight and a half days off per year, up sharply from six days in 2010.

According to an investigation by RTS, the increase is mainly due to three factors - a surge in mental health issues, post-Covid habits that encourage staying home when sick, and an aging workforce.

But these absences come at a cost.

Small businesses are feeling the strain, struggling to afford daily allowance insurance, as higher sick-leave rates push premiums up and insurers become more cautious.
