Voters are heading for a tight decision on immigration.
A new Tamedia poll shows 52% currently back the proposal to cap the population at ten million by 2050, with 46 percent opposed - crucially, only 2% say they’re undecided.
Support is strongest among Swiss People’s Party voters, while women show slightly higher backing than men.
The initiative’s supporters argue immigration is putting pressure on housing, transport and public services.
Detractors say tough immigration laws will be damaging for the economy and social security payments - needed for an aging population.
The vote will be on June 14th.
