Sheep carcasses left outside Lausanne parliament

Farmers in Vaud are calling for greater controls on the wolf population in the region and did so over the weekend with some gruesome visual aids.

They deposited the corpses of twelve sheep in front of the Vaud government headquarters in Lausanne late on Saturday morning.

They told the press that these animals were killed in the last 24 hours alone. An additional 17 sheep were killed 10 days ago, and 2 were killed on Tuesday night of last week.

According to the dozen breeders who gathered on Saturday on the Place du Château, the wolves are wreaking havoc. The goal was to increase pressure on State Councilor Vassilis Venizelos, in charge of the Environment Department.
