This time next week, we should again be a little freer. The Federal Council is aiming for a further relaxation of coronavirus rules from next Monday.

But the need to wear a mask in shops is likely to stay throughout the summer, according to the Health Minister Alain Berset.

Major retailers are hitting out, they want the mask requirement to end immediately.

The news-portal Nau.ch says the Swiss Retail Federation has sent a letter to the government saying they want to end to masks in shops. They claim distancing and plexiglass barriers are sufficient, and shops have never been a major infection hotspot.

The federation is also calling for an end to the limit of people in shops.
