Renewed calls for new equipment after another near-miss

A report from the Swiss Safety Investigation Board has revealed there was near miss involving 2 air force jets and a private helicopter over the Bernese town of Thun 2 years ago.

More worryingly for the inspectors – it’s not the first time in that region.

They say because neither the fighters nor the helicopter had a collision warning system installed and the area is known as a radar black spot.

The Board says it made that recommendation 10 years ago.

The original recommendation stands as the latest incident is not a new danger.
