Trying to outsmart speed cameras in Switzerland can backfire.
A German resident has been fined 100 francs after authorities found a radar detector in her car, a device banned under Swiss law.
Officials say these tools, designed to detect speed checks, are illegal to use, import or even possess, as they undermine traffic enforcement.
An investigation by the Blick newspaper found they’re easy to buy from foreign websites and can still slip across the border.
The Customs Office warns that if discovered, devices are confiscated and usually destroyed and the owner fined.
