Process to hire non-EU staff to be easier

The government says it will simplify the process of hiring non-EU staff.

The move will make it easier for companies to bring in staff from the UK, the US, and other countries.

It’s hoped the move will strengthen the economy with further innovation.

In the past, before applying for a permit for a third-national candidate, the company would have to show there is no Swiss person – then an EU national – before asking for a permit.

The new rules mean the company just have to show they’re having difficulty recruiting a candidate.

Also, the need to show the person has a certain level of education is dropped.

The rule changes will also help those non-Swiss already working in Switzerland – it will now be easier for them to become self-employed.
