President suggests those vaccinated may get extra rights

The president Guy Parmelin has caused surprise in some quarters after he suggested those who have been vaccinated could use public transport without wearing a mask.

Speaking to the NZZ newspaper yesterday, the president raised the possibility of a vaccine passport which will be needed to travel and attend large events.

But transport operators expressed surprise. The head of Post Bus, Urs Bloch, says there’s been no discussion about different rules for those who have had the jab.

But the TPG in Geneva is worried about enforcement. A spokesman says such a rule will mean ticket inspectors will need to have the power to demand to see any documentation to prove the passenger has had the vaccine.
