The Geneva Population Office is being slammed by the oversight body, the Court of Auditors.
The office’s dysfunction and disorganisation is regularly reported in the press and is causing misery for many foreign residents with delays in issuing permits.
The Court of Auditors has examined the workings of the office and determined there is no internal control and operations are highly inefficient.
In one case, an application for a C Permit took 441 days – most of the time it was not being treated. This meant that many of the accompanying documents supplied by the applicant had expired and needed to be renewed.
The Court also determined outdated computer software and systems were still being used.
It’s made several recommendations which the office’s management says it will implement.
