Police warn of pre-holiday crime

Geneva police are warning crimes rise in the run up to the holidays are urging everyone to stay alert.

Burglaries and pickpocketing are especially common. Police suggest don’t carry too much cash and keep your valuables close to you. 

To avoid burglaries, make sure all windows are closed and keep a light on.

As more people are shopping online, there could be more adverts suggesting deals too good to be true and as people may be expecting more packages, emails urging custom duties must be paid are also more common.

Police add there are more adverts for fake vacation property rentals and telephone scams are more likely.

They also say they will be out in force over the period making sure everyone is fit to drive.
