Police investigate horse hair theft - from horse

Asterix - before and after (rights reserved)

Geneva police are investigating the strange case of stolen horse hair – from a living horse.

The horse, called Asterix, was the proud owner of a long mane. He’d been shown at competitions and even used in advertising for animal products.

One morning the owner was called by the stable staff to tell her Asterix’s mane had gone.

The cut was straight and the animal was completely unharmed. The owner says it’s even more surprising as Asterix is known to be slightly nervous and has bitten people before.

Horse hair can be expensive and is used by upholsterers.

The mane will take around four years to regrow.
