Petition to re-grass Plainpalais

Plainpalais - wikipedia

A petition has been launched to returf the area of the Plain de Plainpalais which is currently covered by ochre coloured gravel.

It’s a fairly new addition, work on the new surface lasted about 10 years and ended around 2010.

One of the campaigners told the Tribune de Genève that grass would make it fresher – and local traders are fed up with the dust created.

But others are not so sure. They argue grass could just become a dog toilet and become muddy in wet weather.

The gravelled area is also the only place in the city centre which can used for large events.
