In a special edition of Infrarouge on RTS, the Swiss President Guy Parmelin defended his recent meeting with Donald Trump in Davos during the World Economic Forum.
Parmelin rejected criticism that he had flattered the US president, saying his remark - “Davos wouldn’t be Davos without Donald Trump” - was simply a factual observation.
He described the encounter as a brief but valuable opportunity to engage directly with one of Switzerland’s key trade partners.
He also defended ongoing trade talks with Washington despite recent US tariff rulings, insisting Switzerland must remain pragmatic.
