Palexpo to house refugees

The Geneva exhibition hall, the Palexpo, will be open to house Ukrainian refugees.

Hall 1 will have 400 beds set up to allow for emergency accommodation. Another hall, which is currently hosting an exhibition, will be available next month and may be kitted out with new beds if required.

It was first thought there would be 800 emergency beds in the canton, but that’s been revised downwards – leaving officials to look for other options.

Authorities say they believe the canton can ultimately handle 15,000 new arrivals.
