Palestinian group fined almost every day

The protest group, the Palestine Emergency Collective, is collecting fines almost every day for unauthorized demonstrations.

Since October a group has been gathering every day in Bel-Air – demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.

But the protests, numbering around 50 people, have been held without permission most of the time.

They’ve already been fined a total of CHF 1,500 – but it’s estimated the total could reach CHF 6,000.

The Collective says it will appeal the fines. One member of the city council, Brigette Studer, says if the fines are collected, the canton should pay the money to the Red Cross.
