International election monitors from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe says they will be examining the counting error made by the Federal Statistics Office following last weekend’s vote.
It’s normal the OSCE sends monitors to elections throughout Europe. A team had been working in Switzerland for at least 10 days before the vote.
They check on party financing, how online voting is working and if people with disabilities have access to the democratic process.
The monitors are due to report on the running of the Swiss election in around two months. A spokeswoman says it will certainly have a comment about the miscounting.
Earlier this week, the Federal Statistics Office had to readjust its initial report of the percentage score for each party.
Although it didn’t change the seat allocation in parliament, it did show the Radical-Liberals remain the third strongest party in the country.
The initial figure had moved The Centre Party into that position.
