Organisers of illegal rave could face charges

Hundreds of people gathered for an illegal rave near Villeneuve over the weekend.

While police did set up road blocks to try to stop more from attending, they didn’t try to shut it down, citing proportionality.

The party started on Friday evening, but the police roadblocks had been set up by Saturday morning. Wannabe attendees were turned away, those leaving by car were checked to see if they were safe to drive.

Police say they will track down the organisers for the unauthorized party – who could also face charges for damage to flora and fauna.
