One inequality less in Swiss football.

Young Boys logo - also used by the women's team

The Swiss Football Association has changed the priority order for the use of playing fields, giving women’s football precedence over men’s competitions - with the exception of the Men’s Super League, which keeps top priority.

The Women’s Super League now ranks ahead of the men’s Challenge League, reflecting its rapid growth.

Average attendance has more than doubled in just one season, driven by clubs like Young Boys, Basel and St Gallen.

Yes the Bern club Young Boys has a women’s team – officially called Young Boys Frauen.

From July 2026, the Women’s National League B will also move up the hierarchy, as the federation says professionalisation in women’s football is now a reality.
