One family scammed hundreds of pensioners

French and Swiss authorities are investigating a French family, nicknamed the “Bagdadi clan,” for defrauding around 138 people in the Geneva area, reportedly netting up to 3 million euros.

Between October 2023 and July 2025, the family allegedly targeted mainly senior citizens, posing as bank or police officials and using spoofed phone numbers.

Victims were tricked into handing over cards and valuables to fake couriers.

Around a hundred accomplices have been arrested. The three family members were questioned and released after 48 hours in custody.

Investigations continue.
