Nyon study on noisy crows - a world first

The City of Nyon is launching a pioneering survey to assess the impact of noisy crows on residents’ sleep and quality of life.

Faced with growing complaints about rook colonies, authorities have commissioned Unisanté to gather data through an anonymous public questionnaire - the first time such a study has been undertaken in the world.

Crows are especially vocal during their nesting season from February to July, and their presence has become a recurring concern in some neighbourhoods.

Around 322 nests have been recorded this year, slightly down from last year. Officials say the results will help guide future measures to manage the population and reduce disturbance.
