The group that runs the newly renovated Salève cable car are struggling to find someone to operate the restaurant that sits on top of the mountain.
The cable car reopened last month after two years of renovation.
A third attempt to find a restaurant operator has been launched.
No one disputes the stunning location which offers fantastic views. But a restaurant on top of a mountain does have its challenges.
There’s no running water, it must be brought up in tanks. The initial failed offer also called on the operator to pay for building the kitchen – but now a basic kitchen will be installed.
But the main blockage may be the weather.
Laurent Terlinchamp, who’s head of the Society for Restaurants in Geneva is clear. He told the Tribune de Genève that he would not take it.
He says there’s only about 3 or 4 months of good weather a year – it will be quiet the rest of the time.
