No one listens to govt podcasts

The federal government is spending around a million francs on podcasts that no one listens to.

One is highlighted, produced by the Federal Office of Culture promoting the winners of literary prizes – it was heard by a grand total of 20 people.

Producing the series cost more than CHF 50,000 – 12,000 was for music rights alone.

Other federal departments are just as guilty – and the NZZ newspaper, which has been investigating the issue, says much of the content is civil servants telling us how great they are.

The Swiss army should be congratulated, pointed out the newspaper with tongue firmly in cheek – that was heard by 5,400 people.

Producing the podcasts is costing a million a year.
